One Word 2017

Happy 2017! Have you had to write it out yet? Me neither, and I can guarantee I'll forget when the time comes.

It's the the first week of the new year and everyone is posting their resolutions and what habits they should change for the upcoming months. This year I'm doing things a little different,I'm taking it slow. I came across the idea of focusing on one word that would help me better myself. A word that I would constantly be saying in the back of my mind for encouragement to get me through each day. This is my first year doing this and to be honest it didn't take much time to think about what word I needed the most.

All my life I have taken things too seriously and too close to heart. I wear my heart on my sleeves and this is something that I pride myself on BUT sometimes it can get out of hand. I'm wanting to work on my approach with how I begin to handle certain situations. I can't take criticism well and honestly, start to break down when stressful times arise. I'm not big on setting resolutions, mainly because I can never make a decision on what "needs work" so my resolutions aren't realistic. This year, is simplified but I have a feeling it will have a greater outcome. This year I want to be able to handle stressful moments that happen in my day to day. For the most part I do an alright job, but when it become overwhelming I tend to store it inside and finally I burst at the wrong moment and it becomes a messy sight to see. For everyone involved.

For the sake of everyone around me I want to be able to handle my stress better and with an open mind, no matter the situation. I simply need to take a moment and breathe. I tend to get over stressed about the everyday hustle and bustle and forget to remind myself that most of the "things" I'm stressed out about are out of my control. Stop stressing the little things, and just stay calm and tell myself "it's all okay."

I'm excited to see where this takes me. Stay tuned.
Happy new year, you guys!

Adore Me and the Truth About Feeling Sexy

Last week I was asked to participate in the #sexysummerlingerie by Adore Me, and at first I thought no way, me...sexy? They must have emailed the wrong gal. As I was gathering my items, taking a picture, and even right now-typing I'm still unsure about how I feel 100% sexy and comfortable in my own skin. I am very confident in my own skin, but I have also came to the conclusion I'm no VS model. While I was going through my drawers, looking and searching I kept thinking how "unsexy" I am and how nothing that I own fits this category, but then I found the items I go to bed in almost every night.

Heres the thing. I'm the definition of awkward. I hold my body terribly and slouch when I shouldn't. I never know what to do with my hands when I take a picture and they always end up looking scary and large. Half the time I forget to put mascara on both eyes. I bite my nails more than I should and don't wear nail polish because of it. I hate everything about wearing pants, so the first moment I can find they come flying off, and sometimes I forget to pull the curtains so god bless my neighbors that pass by. I apologize.

Although I am extremely weird and awkward, I do have a few things that make me feel good. Gardening, more so planting new flowers than pulling weeds, starting my day off with a cup of iced coffee with peppermint, dreaming about owning a flock of chickens, yoga pants and my sunglasses. My hair can go from 0 to 10 in less than a second with the added sunglass headband look...Which I tend to rock more than I should. At the end of the day I love to curl into bed in my pink silky nightgown with my makeup all off, face scrubbed, and fresh moisturizer on my face. (You're never too young to fight wrinkles), my hair still wet from the shower and my body covered in lotion. The thought of rough skin makes me feel uncountable so when I get into bed with silky smooth skin I sleep like a baby. I feel my most sexy when my face is bare and I can just be me.

My Adore Me flatlay might not be perfect, but it perfectly fits me and how I feel sexy.  I challenge you to play along with the #sexysummerlingerie. Adore Me has a fun new line of lingerie sets. I think I will be purchasing this Kelsey silky robe to go with my silly nightgown.  Don't forget to head on over to their Pinterest page to checkout the other #sexysummerlingerie flatly that have been created.

Girls Night In: Painting Party

Finally the boys are out of our hair so the ladies can get together and get wild.... or just stay in and drink wine, snack on some cheese and grapes, and simply catch up on whats new. Thats exactly what we did this weekend and it was lonnnnng over due.

Last weekend I decided to put a fun spin on a "girls night in" with some diy painting. I see ladies all the time going out with their friends to Wine and Canvas, all painting the same picture with an instructors help. Well, I decided I wanted to do something similar, but with a little twist. In fact a little fall twist. Thursday  marks the first official day of fall so what better way to celebrate than to paint pumpkins!

But with this painting session we are painting with no instructor, 100% on our own and some of the ladies struggled with this, but thats what made it fun! With us all having different skill levels made it fun to help each other when we were stuck. I like this idea better than having a professional instructor tell you what to do. Personal preference.

I'm pretty sure my home is a walking talking Hobby Lobby and Target commercial. Check out my IG page and you would agree too. Everything decorative is from one or the other stores. It's a problem I know, and I'm fully aware.... I just don't plan on fixing this issue in the near further.

Unlike the Wine and Canvas classes, here I wanted us to paint something different, but within the pumpkin theme. I had the gals pick out their picture and I went to Fedex and printed them off. If you are a student they give you discounts and sometime if you're only printing off a couple copies they don't charge you. Sometime. The staff there have been nothing but fantastic overtime I visit. Getting these printed was a more decorative reason, but also to help us look at something while we attempted to paint.

I still can't decide if I bought these beauties for a center piece or because I was treating myself. I'm a sucker for flowers and I can't remember the last time I've been blessed with a bouquet... until now.

Pinterest is the best place to find inspiration for any new project. The ladies and I searched for the perfect pumpkin painting that we thought we would love to have hanging in our homes.

Target Party Supplies

These lovely plates are from the Fall Spirt collection at Target and they are adorable for any fall party. These perfect grey and gold tones make the table so inviting and festive. I'm in love.

Coming up with an excuse to see these ladies is easy, but finding the time with our busy schedules is a little challenging. I'm so happy we were able to do something new and even though some of ours didn't turn out like we hoped, it was a blast painting together.
